A free two-part webinar and audio conference on using the Toolkit for Assessing Bus Stop Accessibility and Safety will be held June 17 and 24.Don Kloehn, senior project manager/accessibility specialist, with Tindale-Oliver and Associates will host and provide practical instruction on how to assess bus stops in your community. The course will include information on accessibility features, such as shelter design, lighting, security, pedestrian environment and other elements.Registration deadline: June 10.


Introduction to Travel Training will be offered in Minneapolis July 13-15

ESPA will offer a 3-day course designed for travel trainers who would like to learn basic techniques of training, enhance their own skills and the services of their school or organization.Taught by a team of four veteran leaders in the field of travel training, the popular course includes both classroom and field instruction. Travel trainers will receive a toolkit of useful resources that they may keep. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as space is limited.Registration deadline: June 4.

Project ACTION and our partner, the National Center on Senior Transportation, will host a booth at the Community Transportation Association of America's EXPO in Long Beach, Calif. May 25-27. While attending this annual conference on community and public transportation, visit Booth #623 for information on new and upcoming Project ACTION training opportunities, handbooks, and training materials. C. Marie Maus, director, ESPA Marketing and Communications, will co-present in a professional development session on May 27 titled A Winning Web Site: How to Write, Organize and Maintain Web Content for Transit. Jed Johnson, director, National Center on Senior Transportation, will participate in another May 27 panel on Senior Transportation Innovations. Advance and on-site registration is available.


Two new audio conference transcripts are now available on the ESPA Web site. Cost Allocation for Human Service Agencies that Provide Transportation was presented in collaboration with the National Center on Senior Transportation on April 22, and Effective Strategies for Handling Service Disruptions in Public Transportation was presented by the National Transit Institute in partnership with Project ACTION on April 29. Whether you regularly participate in our distance learning or are researching a particular topic for your community, our transcripts are available to everyone and are typically posted 45 days after an event.
