The Right Path...
December 17th 2006 02:46
Believe it or not, choices such as, win or lose, powerful or weak, happy or happy, loving or unwanted are up to us. Today, I will share a little about me. I have been disabled since 1993 in my native country, which is Puerto Rico in the Carribean Islands. I started falling, eventually all my body was rapidly affected. The doctors did not know what to do, therefore; they all agreed to send me to New York in the United States. Later, I spent a month at the Colombia Presbyterian Hospital. As a result, the doctors diagnosed me with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) (Also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease). The doctors predicted my lifespan to be no longer than 2 years and asked my family to give me whatever I please. In my heart, I had hope. Therefore, I requested to my family to leave me in New York, a place that I truly love. Since that day, time has passed to the year 2006.
I choose to live, to love life, and become somebody that can bring inspiration...Life is a journey with many paths for us to choose. My choice is to make, my disabilities into abilities, making everything reachable for me. Now I know that everything is possible as long you truly put your mind to it.
Blessings,
Maddy
